Context

The city of la Chaux-de-Fonds had already established a future orientated policy in the 19th century. Today, history repeats itself and as it faces a new challenge.

La Chaux-de-Fonds has submitted a project to Unesco aimed at developing its historic heritage and to promote its uniqueness at international level. If indeed la Chaux-de-Fonds has a remarkable watch making heritage to preserve, the city must also prepare itself to take up the future challenges. 

Objectives

The main project objectives are:

• To create a working framework, which is validated through a participatory process, and which enables measures to be taken to comply with the objectives of a 2000 watt society, while concurrently guaranteeing an economic development of the city.
• To bring together, motivate and federate the concerned institutions and the population for this innovative project of the city of la Chaux-de-Fonds.
