Energy efficiency is a key consideration in housing. Planair offers a demanding energy approach, based on energy-saving, using renewable energy and where appropriate upgrading existing technical facilities.

DSC00550.JPGPlanair offers the valuable opportunity of appointing a single partner, working closely with your architect, to assess, design, plan, monitor and make final verification of all heating, ventilation, sanitation and electricity work.

While advising you on the technical and ecological aspects, we identify the right balance for you between implementation costs and future energy costs, leaving the impact of changes in energy prices to a minimum. We also provide you information on any available grants and tax matters surrounding your investments.

Our versatile team will place all its energy and technical equipment expertise at your service according to your plans.

1. New construction [find out more]

A new construction project? Planair accompanies you from the first sketches, beginning first by calculating the thermal performance of your project according to legal requirements and its possible certification (Minergie, Minergie-P, BBC [low-energy consumption building] and positive energy home).

Our building physics experts use simulation software to anticipate any risks of overheating, leakages or condensation. Together with your architect, we consider the options for the building envelope (insulation thickness, type of glazing, glazing rate according to guidelines) or technical installations (ventilation, heat, renewable energies) to find a solution tailored to your specifications and your budget.

By adding an estimate of your future energy use to the initial investment, we allow you to approach the various technical options for a total cost estimated at ± 25%.

Our engineers draw up plans for the technical installations (heating, ventilation, plumbing, electricity) and seek the most qualified contractors. They will then follow the progress of the work with you.

Before embarking on the building finishings, it is recommended to conduct an airtightness test: Any imperfection in this respect may result in 10 to 20% heating overuse. Within hours, the defects are located and at this stage, corrected at no additional cost.

Once construction is complete, our experts will be there to ensure its strict quality.

Example: the first Minergie - P villa in the French-speaking part of Switzerland was designed in collaboration with Planair !

2. Renovate or refurbish your home [find out more]

Do you want to renovate, get an asbestos diagnosis for, refurbish or optimize your home? Planair advises you on all possible improvements to the building envelope (insulation thickness, type of glazing, glazing rate according to guidelines) and technical installations (ventilation, heat, renewable energies). We create a solution tailored to your specifications and your budget, working together with your architect.

By adding an estimate of your future energy use to the investment, we allow you to approach the various technical options for a total cost estimated at ± 25%.

IMG_5311.JPGFurthermore, calculating the thermal performance of the building as required by law means finding out whether certification (Minergie, etc.) is possible, and knowing the relevant grants.

Our engineers will draw up plans as necessary to replace or upgrade the technical installations (heating, ventilation, plumbing, electricity) and search for qualified contractors. They will then follow the progress of the work with you. Especially for insulation, a leak test is sometimes recommended during construction to validate the quality of the door frames or steam brake installation: In fact, poor air sealing can significantly reduce the effect of your insulation work. Once the site is complete, our engineers will ensure the strict quality of the work.

3. Having a building valued under a cost and energy plan before purchasing it [find out more]

Are you considering buying a building? Planair can assess it for operation in terms of energy and foreseeable costs or, where applicable, as a prior step to renovation and sanitation.

IR_10564.JPGFollowing standard procedures, we establish the general condition of the building and its energy performance. Thermal analysis can help identify the major flaws. We can also make an asbestos diagnosis on the basis of samples and/or visual inspections, followed by sample analysis by a specialized laboratory. In this way we can assess the need and urgency of cleaning up, and quantify the cost of asbestos removal work, which our team can supervise.

Software tools are used to examine various total cost scenarios in the event of an investment in technological improvements, which our engineers can suggest. Improvements are possible on the building envelope (insulation thickness, type of glazing, glazing rates according to guidelines) and the technical installations (heating, ventilation, plumbing, electricity).

If your purchase goes ahead, our engineers will be at your disposal to draw up plans for implementation, search for qualified workers and follow the progress of the work with you. Once the site is complete, they will ensure the strict quality of the work.

4. An installation using a renewable energy source [find out more]

Looking for a renewable energy solution? Planair has been committed to green energy in the home environment since 1985. In addition to their ecological aspects, renewable energies offer undeniable benefits such as energy independence, price stability and contributing to the local economy. It’s a common sense approach to exploit this potential, thus covering a substantial part of our consumption.

Planair accompanies you along this path with all its recognized expertise. Our national and international applied research means we are up to date in all the latest technological developments, combined with our over a quarter-century’s experience in renewable energy. Our experienced team will study your needs to offer you the best conditions in terms of cost, time and respect for the environment, an innovative and reliable solution in…

  • solar energy via photovoltaic or thermal installations [find out more] Do you want to entrust part of your heating or your power supply to the sun? Planair will develop a project in the right dimensions. In this way you will take advantage of sunlight conditions which in our regions provide significant amounts of energy, whether for heating via solar thermal collectors or for power generation via photovoltaic equipment.
11413-Kerzenfabrik-photo-10-Ltolf-legre.JPGA properly sized solar heating system saves 50% to 80% of the consumption of fossil energy to produce hot water. Using software, we will compose the most appropriate installation for your roof. Moreover, in most cases, photovoltaic cells will produce the equivalent of your electricity consumption on your roof.
Solutions from various providers can be tested and compared to help you make the right choice, environmentally and economically! We check the availability of grants to improve the profitability of the installation.
  • wood energy [find out more] Tempted by wood heating? Planair will have you enjoying the comfort of renewable energy par excellence. CO2-neutral wood heating is a mature and environmentally friendly alternative to fossil fuels. Planair will direct you to the best option between two main paths for burning wood, reviewed by modern techniques.
Heating with wood pellets is practiced both in individual stoves and in automated central heating boilers. It combines comfort, compactness and ease of maintenance and operation. All qualities that make it a house or building owner’s heating method for the future. 1m3 of wood pellets releases the same energy as 320 litres of fuel oil for only double the storage volume.
The other path: burning wood chips, a safe and proven technology, is used in many buildings in Switzerland. The installation comprises a timber storage silo, an automated mechanical system to feed the boiler, which comes with a flue gas cleaning system and an ash pit. Planair has all the expertise required to conduct a study of all components of a wood chip heating system and to plan and monitor its implementation.
  • heat pumps and geothermal energy [find out more] Want to enjoy the warmth of the underground?
DSCN7832.JPGPlanair will help you choose among all the options for use offered by geothermal energy. It is certainly a tempting idea to make use of the existing thermal energy present in the underground which is clean and sustainable, constantly renewed by the flow of heat from the centre of the earth and independent of weather conditions, season or time of day.
The range of temperatures, which increase with depth, allows a multitude of heating and cooling options. For each situation, Planair will find the solution and the equipment to suit your needs: vertical geothermal probes, field sensors, water table heat, piles, energy geostructures, heat exchangers, spirals, waste heat and fresh air recovery, etc.
